Music to help get you through the storm

musicI have found certain songs really helpful at different stages of my marital crisis and here are some of them. An eclectic mix that corresponds to both my hurt and my anger.

Snow Patrol: “This isn’t everything you are

Is he worth all this, is it a simple yes? Cause if you have to think, it’s f**ked

Killers: “Be Still

And if they drag you through the mud,  It doesn’t change what’s in your blood.  When they knock you down;  Don’t break character,  You’ve got a lot of heart.

Carly Simon: “Hurt

I’m hurt, to think that you lied to me;  I’m hurt, way down deep inside of me

Adele: “Turning Tables

Close enough to start a war, all that I have is on the floor.  God only knows what we’re fighting for, all that I say, you always say more

Anastacia: “Black Roses

Sorry situation when your’ castles made of sand and it washes out to sea

Anouk: “For Bitter or Worse

When were you ever gonna let me know that you just wanted something else in life.  What do you say when it’s all over, what do you know when nothing’s going right

Daniel Merriweather: “Red

And I can’t do this by myself, all of these problems, they’re all in your head.   And I can’t be somebody else, you took something perfect and painted it red

George Michael: “I can’t Make you Love Me

Cause I can’t make you love me if you don’t.  You can’t make your heart feel something that it won’t

Guillemots: “We’re Here

Yes we’re here, free to run and cry.  Obliged to try and nothing here’s worth winning without a fight

Joni Mitchell: “Both Sides Now

I’ve looked at love from both sides now,  from give and take, and still somehow,  it’s love’s illusions that I recall.  I really don’t know love at all

Leonard Cohen: “Anthem

Ring the bells that still can ring, forget your perfect offering.  There is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in

Linkin Park: “Crawling

Crawling in my skin, these wounds they will not heal.  Fear is how I fall.  Confusing what is real

Linkin Park: “Lies, Greed, Misery

I wanna see you choke on your lies, swallow up your greed.  Suffer all alone in your misery

Linkin Park: “Powerless

And you held it all but you were careless to let it fall.  You held it all and I was by your side, powerless

Linkin Park: “Easier to Run

Something has been taken from deep inside of me.  The secret I’ve kept locked away no one can ever see.  Wounds so deep they never show they never go away.  Like moving pictures in my head for years and years they’ve played

Nine Inch Nails: “Right Where it Belongs

What if everything around you isn’t quite as it seems?  What if all the world you used to know
Is an elaborate dream?

Nine Inch Nails: “You Know What You Are?”

Don’t you f**king know what you are?  Go on get back to where you belong!

Nine Inch Nails: “The Wretched

It didn’t turn out the way you wanted it to, it didn’t turn out the way you wanted it to, did it?

Nine Inch Nails: “We’re In This Together

All that we were is gone we have to hold on. When all our hope is gone we have to hold on,
all that we were is gone but we can hold on. You and me we’re in this together now,  none of them can stop us now,  we will make it through somehow. You and me even after everything
you’re the queen and I’m the king  nothing else means anything

Love this list! I’m a big Linkin Park fan!! Lies, Greed and Misery was one of my favorites to run to. Papa Roach “Scars” is a good one. I also related VERY well to Black Widow by Iggy Izalea. I have a lot of “hate” ones but have refused to listen to them, I’m trying to find ones that lift me up & give me hope! Maybe I’ll make a list of those and share 🙂 thanks for sharing!
